ACREME Investigators 2025 Annual Meeting

ACREME Annual Meeting Day 1

The ACREME Master-MAP team hosted their first in-person Annual Meeting on 13–14 October at Deakin Downtown in Melbourne’s CBD, welcoming over 70 participants face-to-face.

Day one began with a meeting of our Chief and Associate Investigators to discuss the future directions of ACREME Master-MAP, followed by an engaging program featuring updates across our three major themes — Track, Prevent, and Treat. The day also included the introduction of the ACREME Strategic Advisory Group, a thought-provoking panel discussion on “How can our research impact malaria elimination in the Asia-Pacific?”, and a session dedicated to showcasing exciting new research undertaken by students and fellows funded through the ACREME Seed Grants.

We concluded the day with an interactive quiz, a fun round of bingo, and a social event at Quarterhouse — providing a great opportunity for students, early-career researchers, and senior investigators to connect, exchange ideas, and spark new collaborations.

ACREME Annual Meeting Day 2

Day two featured an in-depth discussion on ACREME’s Professional Development Scheme, outlining the range of opportunities available to support researchers at all career stages. This was followed by an engaging career’s panel discussion and updates from
ACREME’s major projects, showcasing progress, learnings, and future directions.

The two-day meeting was both excellent and energising and participants made the most of the chance to connect in person.

Many attendees travelled interstate with support from ACREME Travel Grants, and everyone left having met new colleagues from across ACREME’s partner institutions, strengthening collaborations and shared commitment toward malaria elimination in the Asia-Pacific.
