Grants

The Australian Centre of Research Excellence in Malaria Elimination (ACREME) is committed to supporting innovative research and capacity-building initiatives that drive progress toward malaria elimination. Through our grants program, we provide funding for early-stage research, training, and travel to enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the malaria research community.

Seed Grants

ACREME Seed Grants offer early-stage funding to support innovative research projects that align with our mission to eliminate malaria. These grants are designed to:

  • Provide pilot funding for new research ideas
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Support the collection of preliminary data to strengthen future funding applications

Who can apply?
Seed Grants are open to early-career researchers, postgraduate students, and established investigators looking to explore new avenues in malaria research. Applicants must demonstrate how their proposed research contributes to malaria elimination in the Asia-Pacific region.

Funding available:
Successful applicants will receive up to AUD 25,000 to support research expenses, including fieldwork, laboratory costs, and data analysis. The funding is intended to generate preliminary findings that can lead to larger-scale projects.

Grant applications are reviewed on a competitive basis. Proposals should include a clear research question, methodology, expected outcomes, and potential impact.

Travel & Training Grants

To support professional development and international collaboration, ACREME provides Travel and Training Grants for researchers and students working in malaria elimination. These grants enable recipients to:

  • Attend international conferences and workshops
  • Participate in specialized training programs
  • Engage in collaborative research visits to leading institutions

Who can apply?
These grants are open to PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists affiliated with ACREME or working on malaria-related projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
