John Bosco Keven

Dr. John Bosco Keven is a Research Fellow at the Vector-Borne Diseases Unit, Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research in Madang, Papua New Guinea (PNG). He holds a PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and a Masters in Entomology, both from Michigan State University. Prior to his current position, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Entomology at Michigan State University where he worked on the ecology of arbovirus vectors in North America (2020-2021) and also as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Public Health at the University of California-Irvine where he worked on malaria vector ecology and transmission in Kenya, Africa (2021-2023). Although he supports several entomological and epidemiological studies in PNG, his chief responsibility currently is the lead scientist for the National Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS) in PNG funded by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Dr. Keven is a leading PNG-national medical entomologist and vector biologist with an extensive research experience and outstanding publication record in vector ecology and transmission of malaria, lymphatic filariasis and arboviruses in PNG, Africa and North America.
