Professor James Beeson, Dr Adam Thomas and Dr Herbert Opi have received the prestigious Grand Challenges Grant. The grant will support next-generation mRNA vaccine development for malaria control and elimination.
“The mRNA platform offers advantages that could lead to effective next‐generation malaria vaccines accessible to all at‐risk populations,” said Adam, whose work focuses on molecular immunology and vaccine platforms.
Grand Challenges is a global initiative by the Gates Foundation. It fosters innovation to address the world’s most urgent health and development problems.
